The last few years have been nothing but bad news for Chris Brown, but a judge has now agreed that the “Kiss Kiss” singer doesn’t need to spend time in jail — at least for now.
Chris’s attorney, Mark Geragos, made a plea yesterday against the L.A. County District Attorney’s motion that the 24-year-old singer be locked up in the slammer due to his arrests in Washington, D.C. back in October 2013. Mark argued that Chris Brown has been “making great strides” in his rehab program and that putting the singer in jail would only halt the progress that has been made. Chris was ordered to spend three months in rehab back in November, so he’s been there for quite a while. Not only has he been a part of a rehab program, but Chris has completed 109 hours of community service and passed his last four drug tests, Mark argued.

Chris Brown showed up to his hearing having ditched his blond hair and wearing a nice button-down blue shirt with jeans and a brown blazer. And he wasn’t lacking for support, with mom Joyce Hawkins and on-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran by his side.
L.A. Superior Court Judge James Brandlin agreed with Mark’s argument, but also reminded Chris to stay on the straight and narrow. Chris may be in the clear for now, but he has a hearing in D.C. on February 20 for allegedly assaulting a guy who tried to photobomb Chris and a few female fans. Stay tuned for more on that front!
